What is private infrastructure and when does your company need its own server?
Short answer: private infrastructure means your systems, automations and even your artificial intelligence models run on a server that’s yours, instead of being scattered across third-party subscriptions. It isn’t just for giant companies — it makes sense for any business that already pays for several monthly tools, or that queries AI at a volume where pay-per-use starts to hurt. Setup starts at COP 2,000,000, plus the cost of the server itself (~USD 20–60/month).
The problem it solves (even if you don’t know you have it)
If your business uses several subscription tools — a CRM here, an AI there, an automation system on top — you’re probably already adding up several monthly fees that never stop charging you, even after years of paying. And if you use AI (ChatGPT, model APIs), every query has a variable cost that grows with your usage — with no ceiling.
Private infrastructure flips that around: instead of renting, you build your own ground and bring your tools to live there.
What exactly is “your own server”?
It’s a computer (virtual, hosted in the cloud) that belongs only to you — not shared or managed by another provider that decides prices, limits and terms. It can host:
- Your systems and admin panels
- Your automations (n8n, bots, integrations)
- Artificial intelligence models that run on your server, not in a third party’s cloud
Private AI: the part that confuses people most
When you use ChatGPT or an AI API, every message you send leaves your company for another company’s server, and you pay for each query. A private AI model runs inside your own server: your data never leaves, and there’s no bill that climbs with every question.
It isn’t always the right choice — for occasional queries, external APIs are still simpler and cheaper. Private AI starts to make sense when:
- Your query volume is high and steady (pay-per-use already hurts)
- You handle sensitive customer data that shouldn’t leave your control
- You want a fixed, predictable cost, not a bill that changes every month
When DOES your own server make sense (even if you don’t use private AI yet)?
- You already pay for 3 or more monthly subscriptions for tools that could live in one place
- Your automations (n8n, bots, integrations) currently run on a free or shared plan with limits
- You’re concerned about where your customers’ data lives
- You want to stop depending on an outside provider deciding to raise prices or change terms
When does it NOT make sense (yet)?
If your business is just starting to go digital, or uses AI occasionally, your own server is an investment you won’t get the most out of. The honest thing in that case: stick with the subscriptions you have, and take the step when the volume justifies it. We’d rather tell you this than sell you something you don’t need yet.
How much it costs in practice
- Initial setup: from COP 2,000,000 (spinning up the server, migrating your systems, leaving it secured and documented).
- The server itself: roughly USD 20–60 a month, paid directly to the cloud provider (it isn’t a charge from us).
- Ongoing management (optional): COP 400,000 a month, if you’d rather we maintain it instead of doing it yourself.
Compared with the total of the several subscriptions it replaces, the difference in the medium term is usually considerable — and full control is priceless.
We run this way ourselves
Our own agency runs on this architecture: automations, assistants and lead capture systems live on our own infrastructure, which we manage ourselves. It isn’t theory — it’s what we use every day.
